Victor Jara Film

Some feedback and comments so far...

"I’d like to share that I showed the Shallal Victor Jara film ( an earlier edit ) to Tony Corden, and Polly, Tony's wife, on Saturday and that they really loved the film.

Tony has said he’d like to show it at the El Sueno Existe Festival 2022: https://elsuenoexiste.wordpress.com/2021/07/09/festival-2022-dates-confirmed. see below

...

In gratitude for the wonderful sensitivity, tenderness and joy pouring through movement, art and stillness, in the beautiful work you have made together."

"Isn’t this all so wonderful everybody?
So much beauty and care…
lovingly timeless.

And too I love your eye, rhythm and edit Adam,
like another participant, a sensitive character
that dances with,"

Dear El Sueno Supporters
The story of a shanty town - in song

Although we have had to postpone this summer's scheduled El Sueño Existe festival, we'll be holding an online event on Zoom to celebrate Victor Jara's iconic album La Población- 'The Neighbourhood' - recorded in 1972.  Se presentara todo el evento con interprete en español. There will be Spanish interpretation for the whole event.
The album tells the story of the land seizure, foundation and day to day struggles of a Chilean shanty town - Herminda de la Victoria - seen through the eyes of its inhabitants, and interweaves their testimonies with some of Victor's most poignant and defiant songs. Based on months he spent among the people there, La Población was a groundbreaking social document that blended political outrage with artistic excellence. It is still all too relevant, nearly 50 years on.
The event will be on Saturday 18th September 2021,  at 7pm /19.00 (UK time -  14.00 Chilean time) on zoom, and will also have Spanish interpretation available. Save the date!
