Free Shallal event 2pm 7th October and updates

Come along it's free,
a last chance to catch some of the summer folly of the Pop Ups with all the various artists. They will be joined by the rest of the company to share an informal selection of Shallal's latest work and in the moment improvisations, as well as music, song and poetry!

Free entertainment followed by tea and cake who can resist!

Pop ups starting in St Ives Festival.......

Wednesday 28th September is Shallal 2's first trip away together, yes we did Porthmeor at St Ives, but this time we have a mini bus to get to Wheal Martyn Museum to properly start our research and development "Clean Dirt" as Jo Lumber calls it! it seems a good working title! Show in the Spring.

So that percolates away along with a report back to the wonderful 'don't wish to be named' foundation which funded our Wardrobe Project. Many thanks to them.

Victoria and I go to a meeting next week with Falmouth Art Gallery  developing Sketchbook possibilities.

A meeting today with Lou Brett and Barbara Santi, acknowledged as executive producers in their role in Doorways - many thanks to them, some of the unsung 'back stage' heroes of our survival and now thriving....

Thanks also to Barbara for Trengwaiton outing last week, http://www.awen.org.uk/projects/trengwainton-heritage-project?position=0&list=MOFe2lR8HMQXLyfpC6NF0sJGwDCayYua7UGxLv4mrRU
the sun shone and we all enjoyed the beauty of the place and the chance to do art there.
Some photos on Facebook thanks to Star and you can catch a glimpse of lovely Tom who is supporting dance artist at Liskeard at present. He came to meet everyone and will give a Visiting Artist workshop to main company this Friday.

Thanks to Lesley-ann for working with me on our future plans, we are still assimilating all the wonderful feedback from throughout Shallal as to how we envision future possibilities.

Loved standing in for Colin at session at Kehelland, http://kehellandtrust.org.uk/ everyone in sturdy boots, it needs to develop an array of Barn Dances with a difference!

Find myself talking about Christine and The Queens in recent groups, lovely dancing!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2VKaH2sKtU

and while on music thanks to old friend Joe Hemming http://www.joehemming.co.uk/
who recommended The Budapest Cafe Orchestra, who we had the joy of recently seeing/hearing at the Tolmen Centre- bliss!

Lois Taylor will hopefully join us, as we get more established and we are so grateful for all her support so far. We look forward to working with her.

Shallal 2 and Shallal Dance Theatre start this week.

Research and development phase and visiting artists in each of these so an interesting term.
SDT visit Trengwainton Gardens to be part of Awen's Project on the 28th.

In the background, the next trustees meeting and the business meeting are looking at our future planning, dreaming and scheming, informed by feedback from Shallal members, performers, artists and participants and our 'away' day. Thanks to Kiki Gale for coming in as consultant, it is so good to answer questions and see us from an objective perspective, where we have come from, where we are going....

On a personnel level Michael has just gone to Edinburgh University, we drove up and i loved the city and the hills and the space, which bring a calm perspective. Constant reappraisal....

Back Lane West Footprints Residency November:- nearly all the artists booked in already, I love this residency, different each time and so: some fantastic installations trialling this year and groups as well as individual artists! New faces and old returning and lots to do and show.

Meetings with Victoria and then the Tate tomorrow and Lesley-ann on Wednesday and Outside In will be at Falmouth Art Gallery.
Zoe Wilton has a page she and Lou created at a surgery and maybe some more Shallal artists will go along?

Outside In: Surgery Day

Artist Support Days

Our new name for Surgery Days http://www.outsidein.org.uk/news_and_events?item_id0=17121

Following consultation with some of our artists we have decided to change the name of Surgery Days to Artist Support Days. We feel this is a much more fitting title for the sessions.

Would you like to create an online gallery with Outside In, or know someone who would, but who does not have the skills or facilities to do it themselves?
Founded by Pallant House Gallery in 2006, Outside In provides a platform for artists who define themselves as facing barriers to the art world due to health, disability, social circumstance or isolation.
Artists who fit the Outside In criteria can create an online gallery, showcasing their artwork. At the Artists Support Day we can support you to photograph and upload your artwork, help you to write your artist statement, sign you up for your online gallery and submit up to two pieces of your work, via the website, for selection to the ‘Alternative Visions’ exhibition.
