We are coordinating the COVID-19 community frontline response in Watchet. Please bear with me if I do not come back to you as quickly as usual.

Proud to have been profiled recently by Arts Council England for International Women’s Day as an inspirational woman in leadership: https://www.artscouncil.org.uk/blog/women-leadership-jessica-prendergrast-onion-collective

Read about our amazing plastic-eating mushrooms industry for Watchet in partnership with the wonderful Biohm in the Guardian here: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/jan/11/could-mushrooms-and-orange-peel-detoxify-the-building-industry

Many thanks to trustee Nick Fripp for supporting my application to be a fellow of RSA..so as you may have heard lockdown has given me time to listen and now connect as it rekindled my activist tendencies and I think Shallal's approach and ethos has something to share and offer, so I am reaching out into: Culture Declares Emergency and the RSA, to be part of the current debate looking at the challenges facing us all.

More frivolously i am always a great believer in a cup of tea or coffee and chat so I like this part...

During the Age of Enlightenment, coffeehouses became centres of creativity and innovation. Embracing people from all walks of life and providing spaces for debate and discussion, they were the information network of the 17th and 18th centuries, playing a vital role in bringing about the radical innovations that transformed our world.
The RSA (Royal Society for the Encouragement of Art, Manufactures and Commerce) was established in an enlightenment coffeehouse in 1754 named Rawthmells, by a group of people with a shared vision for a better tomorrow.
Today, over 29,000 Fellows support the RSA’s mission to find practical solutions to social challenges. Rawthmells coffeehouse is the natural home for anyone who wants to change the world, enabling people to connect, share knowledge and collaborate.
Conversations happening with some interesting and inspiring people and more information and announcement shortly.

Big thank you to my family, my husband Peter has watched Shallal from its beginnings,  when we first met he supported people with challenging behaviour and high support needs to dance in my sessions, he helped drive the mini bus and supported at early performances, he listens to me when subtle but important things in our ethos and approach might slip and reassures me. Mary is invaluable compiling and updating our COVID19 brief and policy and following the latest recommendations and legal requirements. Anna having been immersed in Shallal via Open House Penzance, Shallal Dance Theatre, Shallal2, Back Lane West and Porthmeor Art residencies and Shallal Sketchbooks so she has a wealth of experience and helps me sift through ideas and responses, she hmas a good eye.
