Regenerative Visions for the Arts In Cornwall
Shallal a local inclusive arts charity are excited to announce this event on Zoom. Bringing together local activists, new economic models, initiatives for the arts and community working together thriving and surviving.
"The aim of these short talks is to drop a pebble into a pond and watch the ripples have their affect.
The artists in Cornwall are so creative, collaborative and caring as well as responsive and resilient. We just need to share ways forwards to develop and support new systems to challenge those becoming redundant and those we no longer want to support as they contributed to this crisis, to embrace new ways which will enable us to go forwards positively.
Lockdown gave me time to listen to some visionary speakers on Zoom meetings, i want to share some of what i have been inspired by."

Life Modelling by RailwayWhat if….Flexi-working allowed you to be a digital nomad?
Universal Basic Income replaced incomes as we know them now?
We all had 3- or 4-day week instead of 5?
The country shut up shop one day a week everywhere.
Annual leave was 120 days, not 28? What could you do with that time?
And what is time? Standardised time was first adopted in Britain in the 1840s by railway companies, so everyone would know when a train would arrive and leave.
What if we didn’t base our decisions on that which we deem to be most ‘efficient’ or ‘productive’ or fast? Is our idea of efficiency really efficient?

What if..
we look at how we would like to live with the world and others and start dreaming again and inform those dreams with Doughnut Economics model, dreaming, regenerative, distributive models for being. Symbiosis, one of my favourite ways of viewing a good creative relationship, all mutually flourishing, making sacrifice for the common good, giving to receive!

Of the Empire
by Mary Oliver

We will be known as a culture that feared death
and adored power, that tried to vanquish insecurity
for the few and cared little for the penury of the
many. We will be known as a culture that taught
and rewarded the amassing of things, that spoke
little if at all about the quality of life for
people (other people), for dogs, for rivers. All
the world, in our eyes, they will say, was a
commodity. And they will say that this structure
was held together politically, which it was, and
they will say also that our politics was no more
than an apparatus to accommodate the feelings of
the heart, and that the heart, in those days,
was small, and hard, and full of meanness.

It is time for Structural systems change, people have done so much individually but now our systems also have to change and we have no choice if we want to survive and be able to look at our children. We need to educate ourselves in what is possible and aim for it now!
I've seen it done in a smaller way within the lives of people who were excluded, (I was a Community Service Volunteer CSV in one of the first independent homes for people with learning disabilities and now that is so common) the work is never over yet we have come far, but that change took 30 years and we haven't 30 years to tinker with the planet and our uses and abuses!
Coming out of lockdown, let's come out renewed, refreshed, ready to work for change!
Still in lockdown? let's start work right now!

Creatively, Eddie has written a great new song
"If we are going back to normal,
How are you going to change your life?"
