Doorways at the Acorn, feedback and news

It was wonderful to be back in the Acorn last night, really our home, full house and for some of us the feel of a family gathering, ("Blooming Penwith" i heard one person exasperatedly and lovingly say, as someone reached across them to greet someone they hadn't seen for a long time.)
Shallal was once described by a friend based in Falmouth as a" fragrant exhalation of Penwith" and it flowers the best in home soil, nevertheless it also transplants and is rooting in other places as well!
So thank you to all involved in production for so lovingly, carefully and beautifully framing this show, well done to all the performers and on we go !
Some feedback comments;

I really enjoyed the mix of poetry, music and voice and dance ( and film). I think Shallal has got slicker, tighter and more imaginative and professional in the last years. Well done. Inclusive and good.

We are priveliged to have this exceptionally interesting company. Please give it lasting financial support.

I thought the show was amazing, the participants looked as thought they were having a wonderful time, and were wonderful.
I thoroughly enjoyed the show, will advocate Shallal.
Good luck for the future.

This was a really original, moving, creative and wonderful performance. It's among the best performances I have been to.

This was the most accomplished Shallal performance to date & and I have seen quite a few, original, imaginative and inspiring- & shows what can be achieved by pople who might otherwise be side-lined. They have something that a lot of us don't have. This good work should continue to be supported.

A truly lovely and inspiring evening. I hope to come and see many more.

Fantastic, creative, inpiring, funny. Loved the addition of poetry. Best performance yet.
Thank you.

A truly magical and very honest performance. It was so impressive to see the wonderful balance between control and freedom which members of the group have developed, and the enjoyment and commitment to the performances.
The large group dances were stunning and portrayed so much care and love. Individual performances were very special.
It is quite rare to see dance which is not totally stylised and therefore rather impersonnal. Dance is for everyone and we need more of it in our lives to celebrate everybody.

Wonderful - please keep this essential company going!

It was fantastic. Thank you.

Very beautiful visually.
Seamless scene changes.
Good choice of music.
I particularly liked the variety of dance styles, with dances which fitted each pair or individual perfectly.

moving, eloquent, beautiful.
i'm always touched by this work, it reminds me of the poeticness of life and that I want to dance again!

Whoever funds Shallal you must carry on or if you are new to funding I want to tell you how amazing and important this Dance theatre is. My autistic daughter Katie is in the main theatre and my handicapped son is about to start Open House.
It has provided so much for Katie, confidence, growth and so much more. Shallal also provides support and is like a family. Every performance is an emotional ride of laughter, tears and amazing talent.
Thank you.

"Last night I produced the ( I consider ) best print I have EVER made! And the rest are pretty good too - Thank you Shallal!" Andy Parker..........can't wait to see Andy's new photos from the evening.

in contrast few of my snapshots came out, this one is settling in, from outdoor to indoor, white door can be let down for projection as well, Toby's "puppet" finding somewhere to rest....

Demelza, Trevor and Star! posing

Lots to say but nice for others to have their voice and excited at the introduction of signing, - have only been waiting - for too long! - to get it into our work......hope to have coffee and chat soon with Debbie who is a BSL interpreter, and Demelza who is the main force for signing and i found another connection yesterday of The Community of St Antony and St Elias in Totnes http://www.comae.org.uk/default.asp
listening to Father Benedict the founder, along with his wife Lilah, has been one for my formative experiences along with Wolfgang, too important to go into here quickly, another time..........

Sam's brother Tom is keen to make a documentary for the 3rd year of his Media degree about Shallal. We look forward to having him amongst us.
3 new people planning to try the company this week.
Some outreach requests coming in and next Doorways show in Launceston, a matinee at Launceston Town Hall 1.30pm Friday 23rd November, spread the word.....

Thanks again to everyone involved and to The Acorn.
